LilFoo: I want the purple cat from "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" for Christmas
BigFoo: I don't think there are any purple cats on this planet
LilFoo: I guess I will need a rocket ship
BigFoo: Yep
LilFoo: We don't have the pieces to build a rocket ship
BigFoo: Yes
LilFoo: I guess I will have to ask Santa for the pieces

What do you want to eat on Thanksgiving?
LilFoo told me this morning that he wast Tacos and Turkey for Thanksgiving because Tacos are his favorite.

More comments in the car
So today we were out and about and were down a side street in St. Paul and came across a large tour bus parked next to a small hole-in-the-wall consignment shop. Inside were quite a few older ladies doing some shopping. As we drove past 3 of the ladies were coming out of the store and LilFoo asks "Hey, what are those grandmas doing?"
All BigFoo and I could do was laugh... But then after talking with LBo, we realized that LilFoo probably complimented them more than we did by calling them Old Ladies. So from now on we will let him call them Grandmas because I think they would like that, even if they aren't grandmas.

Comments in the Car
Well, it has happen. LilFoo has learned how adults deal with traffic frustration and is now putting it to use. The other day I had LilFoo and MiniFoo up from daycare and got stuck in some traffic do to a Trader Joe's being built in the neighborhood. While I was patiently waiting in line (in the Durango mind you) a little Cavilier comes up by me and wedges himself in between the traffic lane change barriers and me into a little space too small for any car. I reacted with an "oh come on!" to which LilFoo asked what happend and I told him that an idiot just squeezed in front of us. To which I heard an little mutter from him that sounded like...."dammit car"
"What did you say?!?" I asked. LilFoo was silent, I asked again and he replies with "I said um, barnicles or something" "Thats not what it sounded like" I replied. After a little more coaxing I did get him to tell me what he said and he had said "dammit car" to which I told him that those are not words for little boys to use, only adults can use them. (not sure if that was the best way to go about it but it seems to have worked for now)

What Do Your Boots Say?
Lil'Foo and I went to Target the other day to get him some boots for winter. He got to pick them out himself and liked them so much that he wanted to wear them while we shopped. As Lil'Foo walked around in his boots I commented on the noise they made when he walked. Lil'Foo took a minute to listen and then said.....
"Mama, they sound like they are saying....Barak Obama, Barak Obama, Barak Obama"

"Look What I Can Do!"
So the character Stewart from MadTV isn't really that far off from reality...well....at least his little antics of showing off and saying "Look what I can do" LilFoo has started to say this and it is pretty funny.
For those of you who haven't see Stewart here is one of my favorite ones....

From Little Devil to Little Angel
MiniFoo came down with a fever of 104 on Monday. I rushed home from work while BigFoo picked her and LilFoo up from daycare. It was too late in the day to get her into the regular clinic so we had to go to urgent care. The decision was I would take MiniFoo there and BigFoo and LilFoo would stay home. LilFoo didn't like this idea and wanted to come along, I agreed to let him come along on the condition that he was extra special good. He agreed and he was UNTIL....while we were waiting in our room for the Dr. to see us LilFoo decided he had to go to the bathroom (this was already the 2nd time since we had been there) so we all had to leave the room and find a bathroom which took us past a tank of fish. LilFoo wanted to look and I reminded him that he needed to go to the bathroom. So he did his business and on our way back to the room he wanted to stop and see the fish again. I explained that we needed to go back to the room so the Dr. could see MiniFoo but after that he could look at the fish. He whined a little but came along. We saw the Dr and on our way out I figured I should run to the bathroom too LilFoo didn't like this idea and wanted to stay and look at the fish. Now if the fish had been right across from the bathroom I probably wouldn't have minded but it was a good 5 or 6 rooms away down a hallway. LilFoo didn't want to come but I got him as far as the bathroom door and he refused to come in. An Admin. gal stopped and tried to help but it didn't and only made me more embarrassed that my son was acting this way. So I gave up on the idea of going to the bathroom and decided that we would just leave, but to do that we would have to walk past the fish which got LilFoo again and I couldn't get him away from it. I had 3 nurses try to help me talk him away so we could go and nothing helped. I tried counting to 3 I tried walking away like I was going to leave him there and yes I tried dragging him at one point too (not to proud of that one) This all had to look pretty crazy since I had a sick MiniFoo in my arms the whole time wondering what was going on. So in a last ditch effort I decided to start to take away more things, I had already told him that he wasn't going to get a skateboard that he wants. Now I moved on to, "No fun things this week" and then the one that finally worked.........."No OY this weekend!" his bestest friend in the world. It worked and I wish I had said that one earlier but I wasn't thinking clearly. We finally got out to the car, loaded up and on our way home, I didn't even bother stopping at the store to pick up MiniFoo's prescription for fear of never getting my son out of the store. I have NEVER had this hard of a time with LilFoo and hope I never do again.
The next day....
MiniFoo had to stay home from daycare so we kept LilFoo home too and I worked from home with the kids. LilFoo didn't cause many problems and MiniFoo slept a lot. While I was busy doing some other things LilFoo decided to make mommy and daddy's bed. Didn't ask him to or say anything about it I just walked in to the room to find him making it and he said it was because he remembered that daddy was working. I think that meant that he wanted to help out. And it did and it really did help make up for what he did the night before. And we had a wonderful day at home, we even got Old McDonald's and had a picnic outside for lunch.
So that was my 24 hours of LilFoo going from a little devil to a little angel.
I still won't let him forget what happened at the clinic though!!

What I Want To Be When I Grow Up
LilFoo has mentioned a few things that he would like to be when he grows up...
- An Army Man (not to thrilled about this one but what mom would be?)
- A Chef (wouldn't mind this one at all!)
- An Ice Cream truck driver (a good humor man, not a bad idea either!)

What did he say??
While shopping with a tired LilFoo the other day at Target we passed the shoes and he exclaimed "Shoes!" To which I replied sarcastically "yes, do you need some?" as he ran to the end of the shoe aisle while other mothers and children watched and then he yelled "Bitches" as another mother and I looked at each other in shock and she replied, "I'm sure that's not what he said" It is sure what it sounded like though and I said "I sure hope not!" I went down the aisle to see what my charming little boy was so excited about and when I got there he said "Look Mama see?!" and out of relief I chucked and said "OH! BENches!" to which I could hear the other mother chuckle in the other aisle. And of course the excitement was that he found something that he could sit down and relax on.
Other things said in the store that day:
"We're gonna get Chicken nuggies"
"Mama, go down there, I want to see the scrubbing bubbles" (I'm telling ya, the kid is branded for life!)

Was that a compliment?
So last weekend we got some strawberries, angel food cake and cool whip to make some strawberry shortcake. LilFoo was a little hesitant on trying it so we were explaining what angel food cake and cool whip were to encourage him to try it. So this is how we explained cool whip:
Light, fluffy and sweet. To which BigFoo added, "just like Mama!"
Now I know he was really trying to be nice but guys, NEVER use the word fluffy if you are trying to compliment a woman!!
Fluffy might describe me but it is definitely not a compliment! Good thing I can laugh it off! :)

What exactly is under those American Idol Clothes??
So Lil'Foo has once again has surprised us. While watching American Idol this last week while the girl Syesha was singing Lil'Foo and I had the following conversation:
LilFoo: Mama what is she wearing?
Me: A very pretty dress
LilFoo: What is under her dress?
Me: (with a little hesitation) Her body.
LilFoo: And....
Me: And what?
LilFoo: A bra
Me: Yes she has a bra on
LilFoo: And what's in the bra?
Me: (with more hesitation, but knowing what he's going to say) What do you think is in the bra?
LilFoo: BOOBIES!!!!
Is he too young to learn this much of the anatomy of the body??
More things from the little head of LilFoo:
"Are we watching this AGAIN? Everytime we watch this!"
"I am so disappointed"
Has nicknamed his sister by removing the "a" at the end and replacing it with "lou"

Lots of catching up to do!
So the month of February was a bust with all of us being sick. MiniFoo ended the month with an ear infection but the antibiotics worked that cleared up and then she came down with viral conjuctiveitis which kind of looks like pink eye but is basically a cold in the eye. This has all now turned in to a runny nose and coughing in the middle of the night, this too shall pass.....eventually.
Here's what happened in March:
-MiniFoo started walking and is now into everything, more than Lil'Foo ever was!!
-Lil'Foo's best friend has moved to a new home that is now 10 miles away (according to mapquest) instead of just across the street.
-Lil'Foo celebrated his 4th birthday and we decided to throw him a party not even two days before we had it. BigFoo and I had nothing ready so on the day of his party we ran around getting things and end up being 1.5 hours late for his party at our OWN house! Yes, it is sad I know but I can laugh at it now and thankfully my parents were there with the kids so they let everyone else in and they all entertained each other until we arrived. And all of you that know us right now are laughing because we are always late for everything, but this tops the cake!
Now we are into April and things on the home front seem to be slowing down a little bit, maybe I will take more time to write on the blog now :)

Rewards and Routines
LilFoo has fallen in to a routine where he wants marshmallows and water before bedtime. We don't let him have them every night but it has turned in to a good motivator to get him to dress himself for bedtime. The other night he had done really good with getting dressed and hadn't even mentioned marshmallows so when he was done BigFoo and I praised him and I said to him "I'm thinking of a reward, do you know what it is?" and LilFoo shouts ecstatically "NOTHING!"
All BigFoo and I could do was laugh.

A House full of Sick
The whole family was hit with the stomach flu this weekend. It started Friday night with MiniFoo and went up the ranks and ended with BigFoo on Tuesday. MiniFoo seemed to take it the hardest and today she is finally acting like her old self. LilFoo seemed to bounce back the fastest and after a few hours on Saturday night was bouncing off the walls again on Sunday morning.
LilFoo was not amused with the flu and had actually asked to go to bed and proclaimed a few times that he was "very frustrated being sick"
So, nothing got done over the weekend, we forgot to call BigFoo's stepdad and wish him a happy birthday, and both BigFoo and I are now trying to play catch up at work. Over all, not a good weekend. But the Giants beat the Patriots! :)

Simple Thoughts
Here are some of Lil'Foo's most recent thoughts/sayings....
Me: "Lil'Foo, Mama has a cold and I don't feel well"
Lil'Foo: "Oh, you frozen? Just shake the ice off, then you feel better"
Lil'Foo while on the way home from daycare, MiniFoo is "talking" and I am talking back to her...
Lil'Foo: "Mama, you not suppose to do that!"
Me: "Why not?"
Lil'Foo: "Only grown-ups can do that"
Me: "I'm not a grown-up?"
Lil'Foo: "No, you Mama"
In the Clinic while waiting for MiniFoo to get poked and prodded a bigger lady walks by....
Lil'Foo: "Mama, she's got a big belly!"
Me: "That's okay, Mama does too so we don't need to point it out."
If I had thought about this ahead of time and had myself prepared for something like this I would have and will do it now going forward. I will tell Lil'Foo that everyone is different and that's okay, we don't need to point everyone's differences out.
While watching an Arby's commercial...
Lil'Foo: "What's that on top of his head?"
Me: "That's an Arby's hat because he's thinking Arby's"
Lil'Foo: "No, I think he wants Old McDonalds (meaning McDonalds)"
Well that's it for now. I know I have a lot more to share I just can't think of them right now.

Birthdays
So now that I have a child with a New Years Eve birthday the whole subject of birthday parties has come up. For LilFoo's first 3 birthdays we invited a ton of people to our house and packed them in like sardines. He got tons of presents which wasn't expected or needed but greatly appreciated. Now MiniFoo has just turned one and with her birthday coming right after a slew of holiday events it was very hard to get motivated to do a birthday party.
I started to think about it more and realized that I didn have a huge birthday party every year growing up and it didn't seem to phase me at all. I stared to talk to other people and found out that a lot of people don't do big parties every year for their kids birthdays. With LilFoo we did them because everyone else in our daycare did big parties, which wasn't bad, it was a way for all of us to get together and get to know each other. But now we are in a smaller daycare and parties are a big thing.
So now what I am thinking we will do with the kids is as they get older they can decide what they want to do for their birthday. They can choose to go somewhere and do something with mommy and daddy or when old enough have a sleep over or just have cake and ice cream.

Don't cry over spilled milk
Today I was trying to multi-task and make food while giving Lil'Foo and MiniFoo a snack. Both of them hadn't had a nap so they were very fussy. In my rush to keep them satisfied I grabbed MiniFoo's nubby cup and put some milk in it and gave it to her and went back to trying to get some supper ready. When I came back to check on her there was milk all over her tray and an empty cup sitting on top! I had obviously not put the lid on correctly and now it was all over. I grabbed a towel to clean it up and MiniFoo then decided to splash which threw milk all over. Lil'Foo saw the mess and said....
"Oh no! There is milk all over! My house is ruined!"
How can you stay frantic or mad with a comment like that?!?

Hello Again.....
Sorry to those who actually read my blog. I got caught up in the Holidays and basically dropped of the face of the earth on both of my blogs!
Thanksgiving was good we went down to Iowa to see some family, it has become tradition for everyone to meet at my Grandparents for Thanksgiving. It's always laid back and I think that is why everyone doesn't mind.
Christmas was another story though. Xmas started on Xmas Eve for us and actually hasn't ended yet because there are still a few people saying that they have gifts coming for the kids!!! The kids were smothered with toys and clothes from the loving Grandparents but it is getting too hard to take the kids somewhere else to open gifts. Next year we are having Xmas at our house, even if we don't have a bigger house by then!!
LilFoo has learned that if he is quiet enough that he can sneek food and that is what he did at MamaFoo's house on Xmas Eve. I still don't know exactly how many chocolate truffels he had that night, on top of the chips. MiniFoo was expected to show off her first steps that night too but didn't come through, instead she decided that she would be scared of everyone and cling to Mama and Daddy.
I will have to sit and relax now and think of some of the funny things that LilFoo and MiniFoo have done recently so I can post again soon! :)
Hope everyone had a wonderfull Holiday season!!!
